Darlington Mediaworks History
Darlington Mediaworks was started by Scott Darlington as a one-person company
in 1999 with the videotaping and sound recording of music recitals.
This soon grew to encompass full surround-sound recording. This
all changed when, after two years of not-so-subtle persuasion by
long-time friend Garth Gullekson, Scott purchased a 1988 Porsche
911. Perhaps not coincidentally, Garth had owned a 1984
911 for several years ever since his 1978 911 was rendered, shall
we say, inoperative after what some might call an “incident”. Subsequent
visits to the track as part of the Porsche Club of America driver
education events sealed Scott's fate as his attention turned from
music recitals to cars and tracks.
Garth, who had competed in the 1999 and 2001 Cannonball One Lap of America
events, soon had Scott filming the One Lap events. With several
friends then competing in the Targa Newfoundland, Scott and
Garth were soon filming and photographing the Targa Newfoundland
as well. The rest, as they say, is history.
