- Caption: NAPANEE, ON; February 23, 2008 -- (L to R) Chandler Swain and Michael Reynolds at a peaceful rally involving more than 400 people at the Quinte Detention Centre in Napanee to protest the February 15th 2008 sentencing of Robert Lovelace. Robert Lovelace is a retired Chief of the Ardoch Algonquin First Nation and chief negotiator for that aboriginal band regarding the controversial exploration and mining of uranium north of Sharbot Lake. He participated in the protest and occupation of the old Robertsville mine site where the company Frontenac Ventures proposes to do uranium exploration and mining. Chief Lovelace has been held in contempt of court for his refusal to obey the injunction against his protest at that site and was sentenced to six months in jail and a $25,000 fine. He was initially incarcerated at the Quinte Detention Centre. Chief Lovelace has recently been transferred from the Quinte Detention Centre to the Central East Correctional Centre in Lindsay.
